The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended. My old drill had failed and I still had two usable batteries. The lowest-priced item that has been used or worn previously. The mud is very deep in our lake so getting it out didn't work.
I find that this 14 volt works as well maybe better than the other two I have. This drill has excellent balance, power, weight and control is perfict.
I am a woodturner, ex jet engine mechanic and builder of various wood pieces and put many hours on my drills sanding. I wouldn't say I am an expert but I am very experienced in drills of all sizes and power with air and batteries. XL batteries give me great power.
